This plugin allows WordPress to block over 95% of spam comments using a time-based hash.<\/p>\n\n

This allows for a minimum sanity check and yet should remove almost all spam comments\nwithout the need to sign up to any third party APIs.<\/p>\n\n

The plugin has been tested in real world conditions for around 12 months. It will not block\nreal comments and it is pretty effective against spam, however it only uses a very simple\nalgorithm and for that reason some spam comments may still make it through.<\/p>\n\n\n

  1. Download the wp-simple-spamcheck.zip<\/code> plugin to your desktop.<\/li>\n
  2. Navigate to the 'Plugins' menu in Wordpress<\/li>\n
  3. Click 'Add New'.<\/li>\n
  4. Select 'Upload' from the options at top of the page.<\/li>\n
  5. Select the file wp-comment-spamcheck.zip<\/code> and press 'Install Now'.<\/li>\n
  6. You should get a message saying 'Plugin Installed successfully'.<\/li>\n
  7. Activate the plugin.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n

    TO REMOVE THE PLUGIN<\/p>\n\n

    1. Navigate to the 'Plugins' menu in Wordpress<\/li>\n
    2. Scroll down to 'WP Simple SpamCheck' plugin.<\/li>\n
    3. Click 'Deactivate'<\/li>\n
    4. Scroll down again and click 'Delete'<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n
